Crystal field parameters and electron-phonon coupling constants were treated in the framework of the exchange charge model. Results of simulations of the spectral envelopes agree satisfactorily with the experimental data available from literature.</p></abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>4f-5d spectra</kwd><kwd>electron-phonon interaction</kwd><kwd>CaF2</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The author is grateful to B.Z.
